“Woman and the Veil” – Painting No 8 in the Spring Art Auction 2013 series
8×10 inches on 1.5 inches gallery wrapped canvas (20 x 25 x 4 cm)
Opening Bid: $24 || Gallery Price: $185
It’s my first (quick) portrait of a person ever (with an exception to a watercolor piece I did in my teens). I’ve always shyed away from painting humans because they often look awkward, and I didn’t want awkward humans around.
But now that my pet portraits are in such demand (yay! So blessed) I figured it would be foolish not to try at least. And what better woman than the H.R.H. Crown Princess of Norway, Mette-Marit to practice on? I find her so beautiful, and I modeled it after a photo by Steve Benisty. Spending only a few hours on it, I’m pleased with it.
What do you think? Do you find it intriguing?
Woman in the Veil measures 8×10 inches and is painted on a 1.5 inches deep gallery wrapped canvas (20 x 25 x 4cm). The tiny parts you see of the background is dark gray/black which continues onto all sides. It’s almost like she’s standing by the window and the white translucent curtain flows across her face, or maybe it’s a veil? What do you see? What do you think this woman feels?
This painting is ready to hang on the wall, and once the bidding is over and this painting has a winner, I will ship it via USPS Priority Mail or US Priority International Mail Globally. It will be packaged very carefully.
