Powderroom paint colors - zink by Martha Stewart

The powder room renovation is coming together nicely.  I did a last minute switch with the wall color and went for Zinc from the Martha Stewart Living line, instead of the much lighter Cement Gray. I knew the zinc color was going to get me closer to the inspiration photo (to the right). You can see the difference in the middle photo between the existing light green, cement gray and the zinc on the wall. Without any windows in the small powder room, the zinc wall color definitely comes off a helluva lot darker than the paint swatch, which is what I had anticipated.

Powder Room renovation - ripping up the floors

Once we had picked up several things from Home Depot, Casey started prepping the bathroom before our favorite tile guy, Sami, came over to start on the floor.

Mirror from the Old Lucketts Store

I headed to one of my go-to places for interior stuff, The Old Lucketts Store. It’s a vintage hip store where you can find antiques but also newly made pieces. I had seen this mirror during a visit with my Mom before Christmas. I had no place for it, but I kept thinking about it and the night before the floors went in I showed it to Casey and asked what he thought. Luckily, we have the same taste and he agreed that it would add a warmer tone to the bathroom.  I emailed Lucketts Store and luckily they still had it!

Powderroom carrara hexagon marble tiles

The next morning, both Lola and I were oo’ing and ahhh’ing over the new floor. Since I’ve already received several questions about the floor, here’s the full information: It’s called “Carrara Hampton Hex,” and is from the Tile Shop. It’s marble, and the hexagon shapes come in three different sizes, 1×1 inch, 3×3 and 5×5 inches. Ours is the 3×3 inches. We used the same grout color “dove gray” as in the upstairs bathrooms.

I looooooove it. And I love the specially ordered marble threshold that Sami got us again (same as in the upstairs bathrooms). And then it was time to paint.

While Casey was painting the bathroom, I was working on my commission in the studio. Just call us ‘the painters’…

So the floor is done, walls and baseboards and door frames are painted, the sink is installed and the toilette is back, and the big mirror is hanging on the wall. Now I just need to figure out my gallery wall that will spread all over the walls.
