I hear you. While I have a 30-50% humidity in my studio, past students in my How to Paint a Dog Portrait have lived in drier climates and shared this frustration with me.

Here are a few helpful tips to extend the blending on the canvas.

  • Use a mister and mist the back of the canvas. 
  • Use a humidifier nearby to keep your acrylic paint from drying too quickly on the canvas to be able to better blend on the canvas.
  • Look into soft body paint by Liquitex, or Open acrylic paint or fluid paint by Golden.
