My name is Erica and I paint realistic custom portraits of dogs and cats that grief counselors say help my customers work through losing a pet. My art has been featured wildly in the press including Washington Post, My Modern Met and on national and global television.
I grew up in Sweden as the youngest of three daughters and with a beloved yorkshire terrier named Lucas. I loved to paint from an early age and I sold my first painting at age 10.

Hi, I’m Erica
Hi, I’m Erica, a third-generational painter who has been painting for over 35 years. I’m dedicated to helping you find creative joy through painting pet portraits. I believe creative energy is an abundant resource for us all to tap into. Creative joy is the key to a fulfilled life.
For me, to paint is to breathe. In fact, I sold my first painting at the age of 10. Today I’m a professional pet portrait painter with a long waitlist for my high-end custom pet portraits.
But painting pets and their soulful eyes hasn’t always come easy for me.
I avoided painting eyes for a long time because I knew how important they were in getting *just* right. The eyes are the most important part of a portrait and if I couldn’t get them right, how could I lead pet parents to happier feelings?
After many successful pet portraits later and grateful customers all over the world, I’m here to guide you with my proven process to make sure you succeed.
