Dos’ Pet Portrait is a custom original acrylic painting of a [Breed] commissioned by a client in Virginia who wanted to give her parents something special for Christmas. Her parents took care of this dog for several years while their son, the owner, re-located thanks to a great job opportunity.

Adorable Dos is now reunited with their son and they miss him. Their daughter thought it would make a lovely gift to give them a portrait of him to keep in their home.

My client sent me several adorable photos of Dos, with various funny facial expressions, and this one with the ear up was the clear winner. How adorable! She gave me free range in terms of background color and loved my suggestion after seeing the first layer of this darker brown-beige to a lighter beige (or eggshell white) . I had asked before hand if it was OK to share the progress via Instagram, and she loved seeing how the painting took shape as I was working on it.

In addition to the original painting, she also requested a framed print of the painting to send to her brother for Christmas, the owner of Dos. Her brother opened the gift in front of the real life Dos who definitely approved. I think it’s safe to say that my client’s Christmas gifts were a huge hit.

The painting measures 12 x 12 inches and is painted on a 1.5 inch (4 cm) deep gallery wrapped canvas. All sides are painted with the background color.
