Linn’s Bridal Bouquet was commissioned by a client in Sweden who wanted a special gift for his wife on their 5 year wedding anniversary. He reached out to me a year in advance to make sure he had his gift taken care of. But truth to be told, this wasn’t any wife he was giving this gift to, but my best friend. It took the secrecy to a whole different level as she closely follows my art on social media so she can be apart of my life even when we are on separate continents. Luckily, I’ve had some good practice over the years of making paintings as gifts for people so she had no clue and was totally surprised.

It was easy to pick the background color for this piece as, clearly, I’m very familiar with Mathias and Linn’s neutral toned Scandinavian designed home. I suggested this very neutral, almost cement colored background to really make the red stand out, while bringing in a warm earth tone to make the painting more grounded.  Mathias loved it and thought it fit perfectly – both with the bouquet and in their home.

Linn’s Bridal Bouquet measures 20×20 inches and is painted on a 1.5 inches deep gallery wrapped canvas. The background color spreads onto all sides.

Because this painting was due for a special occasion,  I wanted to make sure we had several weeks planned in for shipping. It seems to be the trend, whether I ship to Canada, New Zealand or Sweden that, while the package reaches the country fairly quickly it often gets stuck in customs for a bit of time. Typically, it seems to take about 3 weeks door-to-door.

Once Mathias received the painting in the mail, he was too excited to wait until the actual anniversary date so he gave it to his wife a month early. Too sweet. When we were in Spain together, she retold me the story again and it was just so lovely to hear it in person.
