New print and Q&A + Giveaway at The Buzz blog

2024-08-26T16:26:40-04:00

The fine art print of the "Purple Daisy" is available in the Etsy shop since this morning. It looks absolutely lovely in real life and I just hope it comes across over the internet as well (photography wasn't the easiest this cloudy morning). {Purple Daisy Fine Art Print} The print fits in a 4 inches x 10 inches mat, which can be found at your local Michael's store (mat inside 4x10, mat outside 11x14). It's printed with archival [...]

Young House Love giveaway winner

2013-07-17T10:14:20-04:00

I'm checking my to-do list off this week! So proud of myself. Young House Love ran a giveaway a couple of months ago and sweet Ali won! She wrote about her giveaway prize on her blog (can she be any cuter!?) and I'm hoping she'll post again once she has her original painting framed and hung in her house. :) It's always so nice to hear what clients think. As her prize, she got to commission a painting [...]

7 easy art projects for kids

2024-11-07T10:03:21-05:00

There’s lots of research about the importance of play in early childhood and I dare say that it is always important with play - no matter what age you are. Whether doing an art project with kids or nurturing our own painting practice - it doesn't have to be more than a few minutes to make an impact on our wellbeing. It doesn’t have to look a certain way or take a long time either. If we become [...]

Mentions in the Press

2022-10-23T14:58:50-04:00

Benjamine Moore's Nuance magazine profiled Jill Sorensen and LiveLikeYou recently and one of the renderings I do for the company was included. Yay! I can't draw to save my life so Jill is the artist when it comes to the sketching and then I come in with watercolors and do the actual painting. We've been a good team so far. It's always nice to see your own work in magazines and Jill is a rockstar in the media [...]

Putting a little ease and grace into the world

2022-02-18T14:10:13-05:00

For me, art is a soft place to land. It’s the place inside of me that I’ve returned to nearly every day for over 30 years. For me, my art is being aligned to my true self. I feel compassion and harmony when I paint. I feel at home. I’ve retreated into my art during life changes that made me feel fragile or scared. Not to hide, but to find myself or the harmony. I remember becoming a [...]

Best of 2013

2024-08-27T10:34:59-04:00

It’s funny how we so quickly forget everything we managed to pack into a year. I ran through the best of 2012 and best of 2012: bridal bouquets (with the best of intentions to do a best of 2012: pet portraits that apparently fell to the way side)… now let’s see what 2013 had in store: A New Website! 2013 many big changes, including a new (professionally built) website with built-in e-commerce which allows me to host my own shop and accept [...]

I never said I was normal

2013-09-30T14:32:07-04:00

Gahh sometimes working out just simply sucks (after 5 months in the gym I'm still not a fan). Recently I finished a work out and was so happy I made it through the whole hour I wanted to buy every new bag and shoe I've had my eye on and eat all the chocolate in the world. Just because I made it through another kick-ass work out. Instead, I sign up for a half-marathon... With everything on my plate I [...]

Crystal Cottage

2024-08-27T10:33:37-04:00

Ahhh my days at Crystal Cottage are over but let me tell you.... they were sweet like sugar. You may recall this post where I mentioned I would be taking a course improving my healing and psychic abilities - for myself but also to bring more light into my art, and others. The course was absolutely phenomenal. Normally stretched over weekends over a whole season, the curriculum was instead crammed into 8 days. The intense pace was definitely for me [...]

Take a Hike

2024-08-26T18:36:53-04:00

So how did we celebrate our 4 years as a married couple? We decided to put our 3 months of personal training to the test and do a 5 mile hike in the Shenandoah National Park and the Whiteoak Canyon Upper Falls hike (I've blogged about our visits to Skyline Drive before here and here). A 5 mile hike is nothing you say. Well, no. It's not. But this was a 2.3 mile descending hike down to a beautiful [...]
