Cammie’s Pet Portrait
BY ERICA ERIKSDOTTER
Cammie became the daily companion for my client’s 90-year-old mother-in-law when she came to live with him and his wife. When she passed away several years later, Cammie was a source of comfort for his wife. Sadly, a year later my client’s wife was killed and more than ever, Cammie’s comfort was needed, “she became a significant source of comfort for me during a very intense time.”
Cammie would sleep in his arms at night and during naps, always knowing when he needed her. She had gotten to be 16 years old at that time and yet, “it’s like she just didn’t want to give up while I still needed her.” A few years later I met someone new and it was like she decided it was OK to leave. “Three years later, there’s still a big hole in my heart.”
LOVE NOTE
“The painting looks just like her. It’s perfect. It will brighten up my days when I look at it. I can’t thank you enough for your effort.”
