Disa’s Pet Portrait
BY ERICA ERIKSDOTTER
Disa’s Pet Portrait was commissioned as a keepsake in memory of Disa who was my client’s constant companion for 18 years – in fact, she had had her for half her life when Disa passed away. Disa loved being in nature, either taking long walks or running ahead leading the way. She was even lucky in hunting! A small, yet mighty Lahsa Apso (well mostly, with some additional love from papillon and griffon petit brabancon).
When my client got her at age 18, Disa was only 8 weeks old. For the next 17,5 years they were two peas in a pod traveling and moving together, and often finding time to breath on Disa’s grandmother’s many acres of land in Sweden. The green background symbolizes Disa’s love for nature.
This was an emotional commission for me as this was my best friend’s dog whom I knew well. When my son was born on Disa’s birthday the year after she had passed away, we all saw it as a beautiful sign for a happy life.
“I LOVE Disa’s portrait. You’ve really captured her, my wonderful and loving dog. Oh, how I miss her so.”
