The trip to St Thomas was refreshing because I didn’t have access to internet. No internet. The only access I had to the outside world was my iphone, which clearly isn’t that bad. I went over my data pretty quickly as we watched some streaming from the Swedish royal wedding of Princess Madeleine and Mr. Chris O’Neil, but clearly that was simply necessary in my book.
And speaking of books, I had the chance to read a good Swedish book while on vacation (thanks Aunt Maud for a good pastime!). I don’t even remember the last time I had time to read a book, and I love books.
As part of Mom’s 60th birthday present, she also received a half-day sailing with a trimaran (three floaters instead of two like a catamaran). We even both snorkeled for the first time! It was awesome.
We also took a ferry over to St John, a much smaller island. The “down town” wasn’t very big so it was a short stroll around boutiques, but it was nice to see. I hear the beaches are amazing here but we had already found our perfect spot which we headed back to in the afternoon.
Overall, it was a fantastic birthday trip that I was honored to be a part of. I’m so glad my sisters (with families) could give this gift to Mom. I wish my dad could have been there but I’m sure he was there in spirit. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was the one sending all those crazy animals our way…
